Indoor Air Quality Products We Install
Every family has its own air quality needs, and we have several products available to help meet those needs.
- Air Cleaners and Air Purifiers: These systems eliminate contaminants directly by pulling them out of the air. Think of them as your frontal assault on air quality issues.
- Air Humidifiers: Maintaining a good humidity level is a key part of indoor air quality, especially if people in your home suffer from asthma or respiratory allergies. As a bonus, a humidifier will help to preserve your wooden furniture. For more information, you can read our blog post on reducing humidity in your home.
- Ventilators: Letting in fresh air is a great way to improve air quality, but during the cooling season, you can’t just open a window without undermining your air conditioner. Ventilators work with your other HVAC systems to cycle in fresh air without wasting energy.
- UV Lamps: Bacteria in the air are a threat to your family’s health and safety. These simple lamps zap them away with ultraviolet light.
Our HVAC experts will work with you to recommend the right air quality solutions for your home.
Duct Cleaning and Sealing
In any home with forced-air systems, the ducts play a critical role by transferring hot or cold air as needed throughout the house. If you have a clean duct system, it will help your central air conditioner or furnace run more efficiently and keep everyone in the home breathing easier. Conversely, dirty ducts can lead to wasted energy and reduced indoor air quality. In order to deal with those issues, you’ll need to have your ducts professionally cleaned.
As a rule, we recommend duct cleaning every three to 10 years, depending on smoking, pets and general home cleanliness. Other factors may require your ducts to be cleaned sooner, however. If you have mold or vermin in your duct system, it will need cleaning immediately. Likewise, if there’s visible dust or dirt coming out of the system, it needs to be cleaned up right away.
We start the cleaning process by taking apart the entire duct system, which may mean opening up some new access points if necessary. Our HVAC contractors will use special brushes to dislodge dust and debris without damaging the ducts themselves, then use a high-powered vacuum cleaner to blow it all away. Finally, we’ll use chemical sealants to keep the ducts clean going forward and put the whole system back together.
After your ducts have been cleaned, you should notice an immediately cleaner smell in the air and reduced symptoms for any asthma or allergy sufferers in the home. If there was enough debris to impact the efficiency of your HVAC systems, you’ll see the difference on your next utility bill. Since your ducts will stay clean for several years, you’ll be able to enjoy the benefits of duct cleaning for quite some time. Fit duct cleaning in to your regularly scheduled maintenance plan today
